There’s no such thing as a fearless warrior or a dread-free artist.

Steven Pressfield

Wise words from Steven Pressfield in The War Of Art: Winning Creative Inner Battles. The man is a gem, go read his book.  You’ll find out why you keep avoiding your dreams like next month’s rent or those taxes you really need to learn how to do before your ignorance becomes illegal.

I’m a creative who never actually got creative. Not out loud. I studied advertising, interned at a radio station, edited campus newsletters, studied a foreign language (still trying to actually use that language), worked as a copywriter for an ad agency…until I found it. The thick batter that was coated over all my interests.

Words. I love words. Can you tell?

Writing is something I’ve always loved but never did. Not seriously. This blog almost drowned in Resistance River mid-birth. It now lives in a little cave shrouded by Fear, a little ways south from Procrastination Peninsula. It has grown a lot of balls in order to get here.

It’s not easy trying to be a warrior in any context. All you can do is try. And Fail. And Try. And Fail again. That’s what this game is all about, isn’t it?

And that’s what this blog is about. I hope so. Probably not. Kind of. Probably not. You in?

Let’s go.
